Over the past couple of months, I've had a couple of posts about Penn alumni getting married to one another.

After the jump, check out 2 more alumni getting married and their very cool customized "Penngagement" cake.

UPenn and Hey Day and traditions and Schuylkill River
The other day in my Hey Day 2011 post, I referenced THIS 2009 Hey Day video about kids jumping off of the Walnut Street bridge into the Schuylkill River!

Apparently, this "tradition" has continued.

After the jump check out this year's new seniors jumping off the bridge.

Oy.

UPenn and Alex Weber and The Young and the Restless

As you know from reading DT, I love following the path of actors who come out to LA.  No two journeys are ever the same.

Cut to our first vlogger: Alex Weber (C'09, Lacrosse).

We haven't heard from Alex since November when he shared with us the 5 important pillars any actor should take to heart before getting into the business.

To catch you up, what started out as a good year for Alex, has gotten even better. He booked a commercial with some of his idols, won a meeting with a hollywood casting director and and he landed a commercial with Sprint.

After the jump, watch Alex's latest vlog and check out clips from his new appearances on a popular daytime tv show, and the fun new award-winning tv pilot he stars in about "bros" becoming activists about pressing national issues. (feels very MTVish and very marketable!)

Like many of the alumni I cover on DT, you gotta love Alex's perseverance!

Ever since the Dueling Tampons were constructed at Penn in 1973, they've gotten lots of flack.

After the jump, find out which organization has recently deemed the structures as "questionable taste in outdoor sculpture."

UPenn and Hey Day 2011

UPenn and Hey Day 2011
Today was Hey Day and from the looks of it, the campus was filled with a sea of red tshirts, hats and canes.

While I hope there will never be Hey Day outrageous activities like THIS again, after the jump check out some of the fun videos caught on cam by our DT correspondent Kelly Diamond (C'13)

upenn and mom and emily rosenbaum
Mother's Day is Sunday, May 8 and while you should certainly get mom a card (these are my favorite), I've got a fun, inexpensive suggestion to go along with that card from Penn alum and supermom blogger Emily Rosenbaum (C'95, Grad Ed '96).

Over the past year, I've covered Emily and her experiment where she didn't serve herself an actual meal, but ate whatever her 3 kids left behind on their plates.

Cooking on the Edge of Insanity and UPenn and Emily RosenbaumEmily is that mother; you know, the one who avoids chemicals, minimizes food waste, shops locally, fears sugar, hides from corn byproducts, and tries to convince her son that lemonade is not a fruit. Don’t even get her started on BPAs. Six years after making her first batch of muffins, she’s not just pureeing squash and baking bread. She’s forming little lumps of chicken-apple-spinach mush into nuggets, coating them in homemade breadcrumbs, and lovingly brushing them with olive oil. She is poised on the edge of craziness, unless she toppled in last Tuesday.

In her recently released fifty-page memoir, Cooking on the Edge of Insanity, Rosenbaum shares recipes and tells the tale of living sustainably while cooking for a family of five.

Don’t bother to tell her she’s nuts. She already knows.

After the jump, check out what happens when she takes her three children to the grocery store and ends up developing a new couscous recipe.

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

If you've been keeping up with the news, you've read how Donald Trump (W'68) questioned the authenticity of President Obama's birth certificate.

Well, Dennis Wilen (C'71), a self-proclaimed anti-war Penn hippie, recently posted images from Trump's 1968 Penn yearbook and comedically questioned Trump's "proof" that he ever graduated from Penn.

Yep, he's another Penn alum roasting Trump!

Check out some of the images after the jump!

3940 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA and UPenn
AEPi "Hollywood", 1993
Apparently, the old AEPi house at 3940 Spruce, originally knocked down because of THIS, has been transformed into a place for recovering organ recipients.

For the amount of "libations" that was consumed in my fraternity over the years, it seems strangely ironic that this new building will be housing recovering livers.  : )

Check out what the new building looks like after the jump!

UPenn and Todd Lieberman and the Muppets

In case you missed it, recently, Todd Lieberman (C'95, Mask and Wig, AEPi) was featured in a New York Times article about how he and his producing partner David Hoberman are producing the next Muppet movie installment due out this November (remember when we shot THIS video while he was on the Muppet set?).

After the jump, learn more about the film's fun plotline, how much it cost to produce and other Penn alumni who been a part of Muppets film history!

UPenn and Wharton MBA and Wharton Follies

Recently the Wharton Follies produced a creatively awesome video parody of the "Dove Evolution" commercial depicting "the evolution of an MBA".

After the jump, check out the sped up video depicting changing hairstyles, alcohol, working out, credit cards and love to name a few. (my favorite sequence at minute 0:58-1:00).

UPenn and Phillies and Philly Fanatic

Over the past couple of years, DT has covered the fun robotic innovations that have come out of Penn.

This past week, Penn created a robot that threw out the first pitch at a Phillies game.  (Once again, Penn representing at a Phillies game)

After the jump, check out the video and find out why the robot's engineers were told to reduce the speed of the pitch.
