Intentional or not, it makes sense that the new CBS show, "2 Broke Girls" co-created by Penn alum Whitney Cumming (C'03) has a Penn reference in it.
After the jump check out an extended preview from the show and see at minute 1:44 why being a graduate of the Wharton Business school doesn't necessarily equate to "being a really fast learner". : )

Recently the Wharton Follies produced a creatively awesome video parody of the "Dove Evolution" commercial depicting "the evolution of an MBA".
After the jump, check out the sped up video depicting changing hairstyles, alcohol, working out, credit cards and love to name a few. (my favorite sequence at minute 0:58-1:00).

Yes, "The Celebrity Apprentice" ended last night, and while the winner wasn't Penn alum Melissa Rivers, it did turn out to be her mother Joan Rivers. So there's a close win for us anyway.
On a related note, in a very last effort attempt to capitalize on this season's Apprentice fever, check out a class project video takeoff of "The Apprentice".... done Wharton style.
Watch above as Team Shy Guy and Team Pushy try to sell cookies on Locust Walk for the American Cancer Foundation and face the actors who are supposed to be (but not look like!) "Donald Trump" and "Ivanka Trump".

Wharton Entrepreneur Elon Musk's Appearance on Late Night TV + Exclusive Tesla Info Elon Revealed to DT! (VIDEOS)
This past Wednesday night (4/29/09), Penn alumnus Elon Musk (W'95, C’95) appeared on a popular late night TV program and discussed his electric sports car company Tesla Motors.
Find out:
- how much this car costs now(!)
- how the Tesla is environmentally friendly
- more about the electric car movement
- a preview of his sleek new, affordable Model S car which will come out in 2 years
I emailed Elon and he told me that the "point was that the real comparison price for the Model S is under $35k, so it's comparable to a high end Ford Taurus, when you consider that gasoline costs a lot more than electricity."
- his motivation behind his interest in cars
- what other transportation related projects Elon is interested in (inlcuding an electric plane!)
- more about the 2 companies he co-founded: SpaceX (space transportation company) and PayPal and how he broke into these businesses
- his dislike for firing people
- other CEOs in the Technology space from who he draws inspiration
- how this current political administration will be helping Tesla
- how he manages his time between running SpaceX and Tesla
On a related note, if you haven't already seen this movie, check out Who Killed the Electric Car...it's a fascinating documentary on the whole destruction of the electric car movement in the mid 1990s!

This week I'm launching a new series dedicated to understanding and dealing with this new economic climate. Throughout this week, I will be posting some great tips from some our alumni on saving money, finding jobs, and even turning trash into treasure.
To start the series, off check out the video above from Wharton Professor Jeremy Siegel who places the current economic recession in a broader historical context (the above segment comes from his first lecture for Wharton's new course, The Economic and Financial Crisis: Causes, Consequences, and Policy Options.)
For continued discussion and thoughts on this topic, check out Wharton's "Hope, Greed and Fear: The Psychology behind the Financial Crisis"

Earlier this week, I showed you the very creative film that Brian Tran (W'10, Penn Singers) produced for Penn's Preview week and mentioned that this was actually his second film of this type.Today I wanted to show you his first video he did for Penn Previews 2 years ago called "Wharton Voices: The Student Perspective".
While there are no musical group numbers, choreography or "hair flipping", it definitely gives Wharton prospects an insider's perspective on what it's like being a Wharton undergrad. It's another well produced film from Brian that also has some good music in it as well!
Anyone know if the College put out a video like this for Penn Previews?

While I don't remember this concept existing on campus while I was making my decision as to which college I would be going to, last Friday, Penn hosted Penn Previews for the newly accepted, though not yet matriculated Class of 2013. It's an opportunity for students to visit the campus, get presentations from their respective schools, and go on campus tours.
In other words, it's Penn's hard sell.
Over the past 2 years the Wharton admissions committee wanted their presentation to be more fun so they had Brian Tran (W'10) produce some creative short films. The theme for this year was "A Day in the Life" so Brian created an exaggerated Disney-ish "first day of class" musical.
Some of my favorite highlights of this year's video (above) include:- choreography in Wharton and Locust Walk that you just won’t want to miss
- a girl’s hair being let down followed by a "hair toss" in Wharton before the big musical number
- harmony-filled interludes
- the "blackberry girls" (you'll just have to watch to find out about these girls!)
Music and Lyrics by Kevin McAleer (C'10)
Choreography by Jonathan Rivera (C'10, Penn Singers)
Artistic Design by Veronica Decker (C'11)

Check out this fun trailer called "Wharton Froshius" that creatively pokes fun of the Wharton student:
"Penn Geographic Channel presents a special documentary with exclusive, never before seen footage of Wharton students (Whartonus Froshius). This unique species is rumored to be ethically corrupt and willing to do anything to get ahead. We expose their true nature."Check out what else is happening on campus

I found a very cool video on the web from youtube user "htcypher".
Per "htcypher", "during my senior year video class, I was asked to 'evoke a place.' Being a Wharton student, I was excited to show Wharton kids' talents reached beyond number crunching and facilitation. What I found was interesting. Everyone was so caught up in being an individual, they didn't realize they were all doing the same thing."
Things happen quickly at Wharton, but this is ridiculous!

I've started to share this site with more and more alumni and the feedback thus far has been extremely positive.
Jon Zucker (W'98, Pennfest 2006) just uploaded a fantastic video of him performing "I've Loved These Days" with Billy Joel at Irvine Auditorium in Philadelphia in 1996. ...You have to see Jon's opportunity of a lifetime!
...This is a great example of the types of video I encourage alumni to submit!

James D. Scurlock's (Wharton), documentary, Maxed Out debuts across the country (in a limited theater release) to explain how the modern financial industry aggressively goes about its business, and why mounting debt is burdening more and more family budgets to the breaking point.
Judging from the trailer, this documentary is definitely one to see!
Read more below:
From the movie's official site:
"Maxed Out takes viewers on a journey deep inside the American style of debt, where things seem fine as long as the minimum monthly payment arrives on time. With coverage that spans from small American towns all the way to the White House, the film shows how the modern financial industry really works, explains the true definition of "preferred customer" and tells us why the poor are getting poorer while the rich keep getting richer. Hilarious, shocking and incisive, Maxed Out paints a picture of a national nightmare which is all too real for most of us."
