UPenn and Cannes

This week, our Penn in Cannes 2010 DT correspondent Chloe Castellon (C'11) reviewed some of the good and horribly awful films of this year's film festival, talked about the badge system and how she conned her way into some of the better theatres.

UPenn and CannesIn her final post, Chloe shares with us inside info about the real reason why some production companies didn't allow Cinephiles in, and the unfortunate state of the film business ...from the mouths of 2 Penn alum entertainment big wigs.

More scoopage from Chloe after the jump!

UPenn and Cannes

Yesterday, I introduced Chloe Castellon (C'11), our special Penn in Cannes DT correspondent for the 2010 Cannes Film festival.

Today, Chloe give us scoop on:
  • the winning films that kept her on the edge of her seat
  • the "bitterly disappointing" films she saw
  • and the surprisingly overall poor selection of films for this year's festival.
...And find out why "Chubaka–look-alike ‘monkey ghost’ sex" drove audiences out of the theaters in mass exodus! This is classic!

More from Chloe after the jump...

UPenn and Cannes
Over the past two years (2008 coverage and 2009 coverage ) we've given you an insider's look at the films and politics of the Cannes Film festival from the perspective of our Penn in Cannes program correspondents.

This year Chloe Castellon (C'11) just finished her week in Cannes and is our DT Correspondent giving us the dish on some of the winner and loser films of the festival.

UPenn and CannesChloe Castellon is a rising senior and an aspiring writer and filmmaker majoring in Cinema Studies and English, with a minor in Gender, Culture and Society. She has been Co-Publicity Chair of the Penn's Consortium for Undergraduate Women (PCUW), a managing, copy, prose, and poetry editor and writer for F-Word Feminist Literary magazine, has competed with Penn's debate team, and has planned Philanthropy events for St. Jude Children Research Hospital for Tri-Delta sorority. She has also worked for DDA Public Relations, and Inside Entertainment Talent Agency. She will complete an honors thesis in English in her upcoming senior year and looks forward to pursuing a career in film after graduation in May 2011. This will be her second time at the Cannes Film Festival.

Check back this week when Chloe dishes about:
  • the best and worst films of the festival
  • the overall "lackluster" buzz about the films of this year's festival in general
  • Begging, Bambloozling and B.S.ing: How to Cheat the Badge System at Cannes
  • Penn alumni executives weigh in on the state of the industry
