UPenn and Philadelphia and Penn Park

Being labeled as "the gateway between West Philadelphia and the rest of the city", the $46.5M Penn Park has finally opened and it marks the beginning of Penn's eastward expansion.

UPenn and Locust Walk and Trolley
Credit: ChristophrHiestr
As you know, there's always lots of construction going on at Penn.

Here's a real gem for you.

You've walked on it a million times and most probably even tripped on one of its crooked bricks, but did you know what Locust Walk was built on top of?

Recently, Locust Walk has been torn apart to reveal an old trolley tracks!

Who knew?!

Check out another picture of the torn up walk after the jump and learn more about the history of these Trolley tracks on campus!

UPenn and University of Pennsylvania and Penn Park

Over the years, we all know there always is lots of construction on Penn's campus. (they were working on College Hall for all 4 of my undergrad years!)

In 2008, DT started to cover the beginning of Penn's eastern campus expansion here.

After the jump, watch the new video Penn just released covering the progress they've made thus far with Penn Park.

This is going to be huge!

3940 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA and UPenn
AEPi "Hollywood", 1993
Apparently, the old AEPi house at 3940 Spruce, originally knocked down because of THIS, has been transformed into a place for recovering organ recipients.

For the amount of "libations" that was consumed in my fraternity over the years, it seems strangely ironic that this new building will be housing recovering livers.  : )

Check out what the new building looks like after the jump!

UPenn Music Building

Since my days at Penn, there's always been expansion and all sorts of construction around campus.

After the jump, take a look at a fantastic time-lapse video of the construction of the music building on 34th street!

As President Amy Gutmann had discussed here and here from her February visit to Los Angeles, Penn's new $3.5 billion capital "Making History" campaign has started it's expansion to the Schuylkill River.

The photo above is what's left of the old Truck Terminal Annex for the USPS.
