Earlier this week, TV producer Roy Bank (C'94) launched his new NBC gameshow.
Now there's another show of his that got picked up for a second season and he's looking for small business owners. The show is sort of "Apprentice" minus the celebrities and minus the competition.
It's called "The Mentor" and it hooks up small business owners with top CEOs for "a crash-course mentorship on transforming business dreams into reality"(previous mentors have been executives from Jamba Juice, 1-800-Flowers, Seventh Generation and The Boston Beer Company, Inc.)
I've done a ton of stories on Penn alum and undergrad entrepreneurs, so I know there are some of you who are perfect for this.

A few weeks ago at the start of alumni weekend, Penn alumni working in reality TV from both sides of the camera came back to Penn to discuss what is "real" and what it takes to make it in the business.
The "Getting Real: From Campus to Camera" panel was moderated by Katherine Sender, Associate Professor at the Annenberg School for Communication. Panelists included:
- Mark Cronin (ENG '86), writer and producer of "celebreality" shows such as "The Surreal Life" and "Flavor of Love"
- Kristin Haskin Simms (C'93), contestant on the eighth season of "Project Runway"
- Charlie Herschel (C'01), contestant on the seventeenth season of "Survivor"
- Greg Goldman (C'96), producer of reality television shows such as "Don't Forget the Lyrics", "Secret Millionaire" and "Shaq's Big Challenge"
The real juice on the panel however came from the producers (especially Mark Cronin) including what they look for in a contestant (and their casting tape) and the true "manipulating" roles they serve as producers on the show.

(While I think this is going to be a weekly show, there is no indication yet on my DVR that I can set it as a "series".)

Random blast from the past video
Merv Griffin president Roy Bank (C'94) is bringing the "world's biggest game of tag to television". That's right.. a Pac-Man sort of game show. Roy describes it as a "big, crazy "Wipeout"-type event with a lot of energy." (source)

If you saw the first episode this past Monday of this season's "The Bachelor" with Brad Womack (or if you don't watch it and a Penn alum tells you about it ...like me), you would have seen that "Ashley" (not a Penn alum), the Philadelphia native, was filmed on Penn's campus sitting next to "Ben on the Bench".

Not only had Penn alum Schatar Sapphira (Arts House Resident, Inspiration, Penn Black Arts League, Penn Gospel Choir, Penn basketball manager) made it to the final six of Penn alum Mark Cronin's (ENG'86) "Flavor of Love
" and soonafter appeared on "Charm School", but she has created quite the career for herself and certainly knows how to market herself!As another Penn actor put it, you have to "own it" and be the CEO of yourself.
Schatar is the living, breathing embodiment of this! And she knows it : )

This Presidental Scholar Penn Alum Will Be a Contestant on Sarah Jessica Parker's New Reality TV Show
While this Penn alum was named a Presidental Scholar in the arts, come June 9, we're going to see (said in reality TV show promo voice) "whether he has what it takes to become the next great artist".
