Halloween and Zombies and UPenn and Carlin Adelson

Carlin Adelson and UPennOne more day 'til Halloween and as part of our Halloween series, I've got a somewhat wrong, yet very funny treat for you all.

After the jump, watch a short about "racist zombies" from Carlin Adelson (C'09, West Philly Tutoring, Sigma Kappa) and her Upright Citizens Brigade trained sketch comedy group "The Charlies".

Watch until the end!

UPenn and Jon Hurwitz and American Pie and Harold and Kumar

Not only does his high-larious next Harold and Kumar movie debut in a couple of months, but we're now just getting a first glimpse of writer/director Jon Hurwitz's (W'00) take on the next installment of the American Pie franchise.

And it looks wrong, and funny!

After the jump, hold onto your socks and check out this NSFW trailer for his American Reunion movie!

UPenn and Jake Avnet and Final Destination and Saved by the Bell

Over the years I've featured brilliant, high quality viral hits from producer Jake Avnet (C'05, Co-Chairman of Undergraduate Film Advisory Board, Founder of the Lecture Series, "Talking Film").

We're talking awesone films about Trojan condoms, a very NSFW short with Scott Baio, a film with the real Jersey Shore cast, and another NSFW film about "love needing a hand."

UPenn and Jake Avnet and Final Destination and Saved by the BellJake just launched "NEW ROMANCE", a new video you MUST watch which has all the cheesiness of "Saved By the Bell" combined with the horror of the Final Destination films.

After the jump, check out the video and find out how Jake got to do this short for Warner Brothers!

UPenn and body modification and tattoos

Actually, you've got to watch this documentary that Jaclyn Gurwin (C'11), a Penn undergrad created for her senior honors thesis called "I Am Not My Body".

You'll get sucked into this because the film is beyond seeing "distortions" (we're talking split tongues, nose jobs, tattoos, piercings, and some more graphic items you'll just have to watch to find out about.  And I'll be honest, the NSFW story told in the first 2 minutes is not for the faint of heart!)

Much of the gold about this 24 minute documentary has to do with the stories behind why people alter their body.  Reasons having to do with relationships and self-worth.

After the jump, watch the stories of 7 unique personalities unfold, plus commentary by a "body modification specialist", a tattoo artist and a plastic surgeon ....and in minute 10, listen to the "pretty intense" request a tattoo artist actually completed!

UPenn and Cider and St. Patrick's Day and Ted WerthEarlier today I posted about a Penn alum with his own beer blog.

Now, as I continue to celebrate St. Patty's day and everything alcohol-related, there's another Penn alum who has his own alcoholic drink you'll want to  know about which is "like beer, but not beer".

After the jump, more about this alum ...and the sexy, bordering on NSFW marketing campaign that may make you gasp!

Whitney Cummings and UPenn

If you haven't seen the ads yet, tonight a whole slew of misfits roast Donald Trump (W'68) on Comedy Central (10:30/9:30c).  I'm sure you can safely expect jokes about his hair, his marriages and all of the products he's put his name on.

At first I was a bit surprised Trump was such a good sport, but then I realized this is more great promotion for THIS monumental endeavor of his.

After the jump, check out clips featuring Donald's fellow Penn alum Whitney Cummings (C'03) roasting both Donald and "The Situation", and then Donald himself roasting Snoop Dogg!

Whitney CummingsComedian Whitney Cummings (C'03) is definitely getting around and becoming a Comedy Central favorite.

She roasted Joan Rivers (and it was harsh!) and recently David Hasselhoff (also harsh!).

This weekend, she has her own Comedy Central special airing (8/21, 11:30 pm/10:30c) and I'll let the title of the show, "Money Shot" speak for itself...

Check out her NSFW clip from the show after the jump!

Matt Rittberg and Cocaine and UPenn and NSFW

There is only one thing more ridiculously funny than Matt Rittberg's (L'02) NSFW "Yeay O'Doul's" video you're about to see.

And that is the fact that apparently there was an ACTUAL PRODUCT like this on the market in the 80s called "Synth Coke".

Check out Matt's video and the horrendous 80's video after the jump!

dave cowen and upenn
Penn alum Dave Cowen (C'06, TEP, 34th Street, Write On!) is certainly carving a niche out for himself in Hollywood.

While Dave has been finishing his MFA degree in Screenwriting at USC, he's been busy with two very entertaining projects you'll want to check out (one with another fellow Penn alum).

After the jump, you'll never look at a guy dressed up in a Teddy Bear costume in the same way again...

UPenn and Rob Pearlstein and Baby Bump

UPenn and Rob Pearlstein and Baby Bump
After his short film was nominated for an Oscar in 2006, Rob Pearlstein (C'95, DP) went on to create another funny film that caught our attention.

Now, Rob has created what seems to be a sure viral video sensation called "She Gotta Bump", a song as he says, "for all you beautiful pregnant ladies".

Watch this very funny video after the jump ...and his reference to pickle farts. (look out for Rob in minute 1:57)

Elizabeth BanksShe's been an film and TV actress as well as a model in countless magazines.

Now, actress Elizabeth Banks (C'96) is taking on a new role. That of a director.

While I applaud Liz's directing, to be honest, I'm not sure of what to think about the content of this short. On one level the content is creative and hopeful. On another level it's a bit uncomfortable and not really "PC" (bordering on NSFW).

Watch the short above and you'll see what I'm talking about.

What do you think?

Scott Baio
From the Penn alum who brought you "The Murray Hill Song" and "I Miss Moranis", DJ Lubel (C'05) has now created a, dare I say, very funny, and very well produced (thanks to Jake Avnet (C'05)) viral video so very NSFW (that's "Not-Safe-For-Work") that I need to have you click the "continue reading" link below to watch this video!

Jake Avnet and UPenn
I've got another Penn alum filmmaker you all should keep your eye on who produced 2 viral hits I want to share --one a funny commercial for "Trojans2Go" and the other which brilliantly combines a Talking Heads song with the film American Psycho!

Last year, I did a post about how Jake Avnet (C'05, Co-Chairman of Undergraduate Film Advisory Board, Founder of the Lecture Series, "Talking Film") won two prestigious grants for one of his films.  Since then, Jake has co-founded his own production company called ENEMY Incorporated with director David Green whose focus is on commercials, music videos, and viral content, as well as film and television production.

As mentioned above, Jake sent me two great films his company has produced. And they're really creative and well done!

Trojan Condoms
Trojan2Go Commercial -"Sri Lanka": Watch this guy travel the globe in the name of love! (reminds me of my undergrad film).   I'm sure our Penn alum sexologist and Trojan spokesperson would approve!

American Psycho and Tom Cruise and Talking HeadsA semi-NSFW cover of the Talking Heads Song "This Must Be the Place" laid over shot-by-shot re-enactments from American Psycho.  ...Tell me that the star of this video, Miles Fisher (Harvard alum), doesn't look like Tom Cruise?!

Last year I did a post about Whitney Cummings (C'03) being one of Entertainment Weekly's "12 Future Stars of Comedy"

As you'll see in the above preview clip from this Sunday night's Friar's Club Joan Rivers roast, it is apparent why Whitney was given this title!

The video above is hysterical and definitely a not-safe-for-work video ...and Whitney pulls no stops when it comes to Joan's face!

Oscar Nominated Alum Colin Campbell (C'91, President of Intuitons, Without A Net, Penn in Pictures 2001 panelist) has created a great 4 minute video he directed for Instant Films, a 48 hour Los Angeles film festival. Colin drew the script and then the cast out of a hat on Saturday morning and by Sunday night he handed in the finished film.

And Colin is no stranger to directing films by any means. In fact his short film "Seraglio" was nominated for an Oscar back in 2000. This was a great film that we showcased in our first Los Angeles Pennfest 2002 (photos HERE, program HERE) and am trying to see if we can get it posted on DT at some point soon.

"Delicious" is definitely on the not-safe-for-work side.  ...So much in fact that the video and the image I'm using for this post associated with this film can only be seen when you expand the post by clicking HERE.

*Besides Colin, we actually have two other Penn alumni whose short film was nominated for an Oscar in 2006.  Get the scoop HERE and watch their film!

Elizabeth Banks
Back in July I reported that Elizabeth Banks (C'96) did these two episodes of an internet series called "Wainy Days", written by David Wain.

Now, news Liz appears in the last episode of the series below called "Shelly II" ...and it is really raunchy and really funny. At the end of the clip you'll see that Liz will also be starring in a David Wain upcoming feature film this fall called Role Models.

In a recent interview, it was revealed that it was Liz Banks' husband Max Handelman's (C'95, AEPi) idea for her to make THIS brilliant NSFW video:

My past posts about Liz here

Matt Kap's (C'97) band's (The Moving Picture Show) song "The Boy Who Lives Backwards" is featured in the season premiere of MTV's Road Rules Challenge: The Island. It was played at the end of the show when the cast decided to vote off one of their own. Check your local listings for the show's reairing.

Listen to "The Boy Who Lives Backwards" here:

The story behind the song?   Per Matt:

"The Boy Who Lives Backwards" basically came out of a regret. I was going to take some summer classes at NYU and met a girl the first day in the dorm through a friend. She'd had a bad day and her friend wasn't around so I decided to try and cheer her up. We had a really incredible night but I was so shy at the time and thought she had a boyfriend so I didn't ask her out. Years later I thought of that while singing a melody and began thinking about regrets we have in life - the person we didn't kiss, the bully on the playground we didn't stand up to, the clever comebacks that we wished we'd said in an argument and that's what the song is about. It also really reminds me of New York City in the fall which is my favorite time of year."

Elizabeth Banks
Elizabeth Banks (C'96) continues to make news this week and I continue to report it...

Over this past year, I have been reporting that Liz will be starring in the upcoming Kevin Smith film, Zach and Miri Make a Porno (October 31).  There's been all sorts of good buzz surrounding this film.

Recently Kevin Smith managed to get the ratings committee to bring the film's rating from NC-17 down to an R.  And news came yesterday that the film will actually be closing the Woodstock Film festival.

Now, the red band trailer for this film just came out and it looks very funny.
