Earlier this week, I showed you the very creative film that Brian Tran (W'10, Penn Singers) produced for Penn's Preview week and mentioned that this was actually his second film of this type.
Today I wanted to show you his first video he did for Penn Previews 2 years ago called "Wharton Voices: The Student Perspective".
While there are no musical group numbers, choreography or "hair flipping", it definitely gives Wharton prospects an insider's perspective on what it's like being a Wharton undergrad. It's another well produced film from Brian that also has some good music in it as well!
Anyone know if the College put out a video like this for Penn Previews?

While I don't remember this concept existing on campus while I was making my decision as to which college I would be going to, last Friday, Penn hosted Penn Previews for the newly accepted, though not yet matriculated Class of 2013. It's an opportunity for students to visit the campus, get presentations from their respective schools, and go on campus tours.
In other words, it's Penn's hard sell.
Over the past 2 years the Wharton admissions committee wanted their presentation to be more fun so they had Brian Tran (W'10) produce some creative short films. The theme for this year was "A Day in the Life" so Brian created an exaggerated Disney-ish "first day of class" musical.
Some of my favorite highlights of this year's video (above) include:
- choreography in Wharton and Locust Walk that you just won’t want to miss
- a girl’s hair being let down followed by a "hair toss" in Wharton before the big musical number
- harmony-filled interludes
- the "blackberry girls" (you'll just have to watch to find out about these girls!)
Music and Lyrics by Kevin McAleer (C'10)
Choreography by Jonathan Rivera (C'10, Penn Singers)
Artistic Design by Veronica Decker (C'11)

Have you been watching Russell Simmons' "Brave New World" on HBO? If you have, you would have seen great performances from our Team Philadelphia .
Highlighted this week on the show were moving performances from Alysia Harris' (C'10, The Excelano Project) and Josh Bennett (C'10, The Excelano Project, Brave New Voices 2008 slam champion).
- Watch Alysia's "That Girl" piece above ... it's yet another performance of hers that will give you the chills!
- If that's not moving enough, then watch Josh's "Carbon Copy" piece above where he honors his love for his father directly in front of him.
While the show has only aired 2 episodes, from the site, it looks like we should be expecting another performance from Aysha El Shamayleh (C'10, The Excelano Project) sometime soon.
Good luck Team Philadelphia!
