2008 Women PoseDown

Last year, around this time, I had posted some hot videos about an activity that apparently existed during my time at Penn, but I had never heard of it: Penn's Body Building Contest.

It's that time again this year and I've got some new women and men bodybuilding videos from the XVII contest that happened earlier this week.

Enjoy!

Click here to see the rest of the videos!

Back in September I reported (check out the videos) that there was a "flash mob" on Locust Walk which took the form of one huge Pillow fight.

Now news that there was another flash mob on Locust Walk yesterday of some of the freshmen class (C'12) freezing in place for 5 minutes!

Nothing like keeping the campus fresh! Love this!

John LegendIn light of his new recently released Evolver album, John Legend (C'99, Counterparts) was interviewed by 2 different Penn alumni for 2 different mediums.

Last week, Penn alum and WPIX Entertainment Reporter Emily Frances interviewed John (see video above).  Emily filled me in on some John Legend tidbits that I didn't know:
  • Legend is a musical prodigy.
  • He started playing the piano at the age of 4 and he started attending the University of Pennsylvania when he was only 16-years-old.
  • To fit in with the college crowd, he joined an acapella group (Counterparts).
  • Legend was the first in his family to attend college and after he graduated, he worked at Boston Consulting Group for 3 years in NY while he was trying to make it.
  • He was an English major and lived in Butcher his freshman year.
Then Jillian Ivey (C'06, Kelly Writer's House) sat down with John Legend earlier this month for the  Phillyist blog to talk with him about his new album.  In the interview, John talks about his new album and also talks about whether he'll be returning to Penn for the Counterparts 10th reunion this spring and why he loves Philly so much.  Check out her article here

Whitney CummingsAnother alum just made another Hollywood list.

Stand-Up Whitney Cummings (C'03) just made Entertainment Weekly's Top 12 future stars of comedy.

Per Entertainment Weekly,
"Why We Think She'll Be Big: Behind her model-like smile is a filthy, filthy mouth. The wickedly raunchy comedian — she wrote for the Bob Saget roast — finds time between incessant gigs for films (Made of Honor) and TV (MyNetworkTV's The Tony Rock Project).

Why She Thinks She'll Be Big: ''If I don't, I'm gonna make a sex tape with Aziz [Ansari]. There are no shortcuts, so I tend to be a workaholic. My hobby is my job. I'd be doing it for free. Which I think a lot of us do anyway.''"
Recently, I asked Whitney about which activities at Penn helped put her on the road to becoming a stand-up...

Per Whitney,
"I had a show on the Penn tv station that was a goofy cooking show with a friend of mine. I took Carolyn Marvin's class on the first amendment at Annenberg and it made me want to challenge taboos, and I tend to do that in my work as a stand up -we had a bunch of discussions and classes on Carlin's words you can never say on television-it got me really into carlin, even more so than i already was -that had a huge impact on me-and it made me want to push the envelope in whatever I ended up doing in my life. That class really made me interested in taboos and if you've seen my stand-up [see video above] you know I tend to explore and play with a lot of them. I tend to push the boundaries on network television and dive in to topics that society deems inappropriate - and whenever I deal with censorship it makes me think of that class I took at Penn.

UPenn
Matt Reilly on far right

News of another alum making an important Hollywood List...

Last week, Matt Reilly (C'00) just got named as The Hollywood Reporter's Top 5 Under 35.

Here's the scoop per the Hollywood Reporter,
"Matt Reilly, 30
vp production
Warner Bros.
New Jersey-born Reilly first tasted the business as a summer intern for James Moll and June Beallor, makers of the 1998 Oscar-winning docu "The Last Days." His big break didn't happen until a college buddy working as an assistant to Patrick Whitesell, then at CAA, suggested Reilly take his place. He had only been on Whitesell's desk a month when the agent famously jumped ship for Endeavor. "He called me on a Sunday night and asked, 'Do you want to go with me?'" Reilly remembers. "I was in the eye of the storm of something really big, but at the time I was just going with it." Reilly soon realized he didn't want to be an agent after all. He credits Endeavor's Tom Strickler for pushing him to take a job at Warners, comparing the studio with the Yankees: "'You want to play for the Yankees, don't you?'" Reilly recalls Strickler asking. Reilly now oversees an upcoming slate that includes the Seth Rogen comedy "Observe and Report," political thriller "The 28th Amendment" and Ben Affleck's "The Town.""
