Recently at a Los Angeles Penn event, I bumped into Penn alum Rob Golenberg (W'87, ZBT).  Rob has been in the Hollywood biz now for over 20 years now and is currently the VP and Head of TV Literary and Packaging at the Gersh Agency.  (I've known about Rob for years now because some Penn friends have had great experiences working for him.)

As you've seen in many of the Hollywood alumni I cover on DT, no one person's path is the same.  In Rob's case, he made a big career change early on in his career to Hollywood and has had quite an interesting journey since!

After the jump, learn more about Rob's path from Penn to Hollywood agent and his solid advice to anyone looking to becoming an agent or getting into the entertainment business.

A must read for any Penn alum or undergrad looking to go Hollywood!

This past Monday, Penn hosted its 254th Commencement and Penn alum Jon Huntsman, Jr. (C'87), Ambassador to China, delivered the Commencement Address.

Today and tomorrow I'm posting a few of these videos from graduation for you to soak in. I watched these videos so you don't (necessarily) need to and can skip to the good parts : )

...However, I do encourage you to listen to these speeches as they really are a source of great inspiration no matter how old you are!

After the jump, find out some key moments from Jon's enthusiastic commencement speech including how he worked in an Incubus song and his "ooh"-invoking comment about how beautiful President Amy Gutmann's looked!

Attention tri-state/Philly residents!

On Monday, November 12, Melissa Fitzgerald (C'87), former West Wing star and her good West Wing pal Allison Janney will be coming to Philly for a special fundraiser reception.

As reported here, Melissa is helping to bring attention to Uganda through Voices of Uganda, a documentary she produced about a unique theater program from Los Angeles traveling to northern Uganda to work with youths who have been affected by 21 years of civil war.

Kevin Misher (far left) on the set of The Interpreter.

Kevin Misher (C'87) to produce an untitled action film.

According to comingsoon.net, the film is about:

"a rough-hewn heroic tale about realizing dreams of glory, putting audiences ringside at high-stakes underground street fights. Tatum [O'Neill] will star as Sean Arthur, a young man who scrapes up a living scalping tickets in NYC. With family tragedy in his past and his father keeping him at a distance, this outsider has little to motivate him. A chance encounter with a veteran street-fighting coach leads to a whole new career for Sean. The ensuing bouts get tough, especially with the criminal element horning in, so Sean gets tougher. He will fight to win, not only the prize money but also the unexpected new relationships that are strengthening him."

Kevin is currently in post-production on Christian Alvart's Case 39, starring Renée Zellweger and Jodelle Ferland, for release this winter. For you comic book fans out there, I also see on his IMDB profile that he'll be producing "Sub-Mariner". His earlier producing credits include The Interpreter and The Rundown.

When I first moved to LA around 1996, Kevin was part of a bunch of successful Penn alumni at Universal Studios including Stacey Snider (C'82) (former Chairman of Universal Pictures, now CEO/co-chair of Dreamworks), Ali Brecker Shearmur (C'89) (former Exec VP of Universal, now producing deal at Paramount) and Marc Platt (C'79) (Executive Producer). It's great to see that they've all gone on to great success. Stay tuned on DuelingTampons.com for future posts about what all of these alumni are up to!
