Since the beginning of DT, I've been covering all sorts of stories about Penn alumni musicians, filmmakers, actors, plus dozens more entertainment professions.
Then, over the past couple of years on DT, I've been covering stories about new young alumni trying to break into careers such as acting, more acting, and music.
Now, this summer, we're going to be following two current undergrads who are out in LA exploring the world of entertainment.
To start things off, let me introduce to you LA native, Ali Kriegsman (C'13, Off the Beat). This summer Ali is working as an assistant for a clothing boutique, as an intern for a lifestyle and fashion magazine, as a hostess in an LA restaurant ...and as a blogger for DT!
While she is in LA, Ali blogs about her quasi self-deprecating, slightly offensive take on LA, "its desperate residents and the ridiculousness that ensues". I'm bringing Ali to my DT readers because I think she has a fresh, fun young take on LA that I think many LA "new" residents have, but over time become immune to : )
After the jump, find out more about Ali, which resources she used to get her magazine internship and then read which celebrities Ali has seen, sort of met, and makes fun (!) of while she has been here in LA.

For Penn President Amy Gutmann, that meant submitting page 217 of her 300 page autobiography, where she discusses her professional accomplishments, including creating a vision for the school, dubbed "the Penn Compact," when she became the University's president in 2004.
Check out President Gutmann's page 217 HERE
Thanks to Kiera Reilly (C'93, Director, Alumni Travel, Associate Director, Global Alumni Network) for the tip!

Debuting tonight on here!, America's premium gay television network, Robert Gant (C'90, Penn Six) stars with Shannen Dougherty and John Rhys-Davies in Kiss Me Deadly.
Per Business Wire, the plot is as follows:
"Jacob Keane (Gant) is a photographer living the family life in Milan with his loving boyfriend, Paolo, and Julia, the daughter he shares with his lesbian friend, Kyra. When a young woman, Marta (Doherty), arrives from his past life, he is pulled back into the high-stakes world of international espionage. Together they must elude a mysterious enemy threatening to disrupt their now-quiet lives. Out actor Ian Roberts (Superman Returns) co-stars as the villainous Vigo, while John Rhys-Davies (Lord of the Rings trilogy) plays the heroic Yale, a former colleague of Jacob and Marta."

As to what he's up to now, Robert told me that he just wrapped:
- a Lifetime movie called Special Delivery that will air in December for Lifetime with Lisa Edelstein of House and Brenda Song, one of the young Disney stars.
- a part for a film for Spike TV called Mask of the Ninja.
