Last week I did a post about Penn's new $43.5 million dollar addition: Penn Park.
I will say that even after I posted the video and saw the pictures of this Park I had some problems understanding how one would get there on the Penn campus.
Rest assured alumni who haven't been back to campus in a while; after the jump, Kelly Diamond (C'13), our DT undergrad correspondent has provided another one of her famous"15 second clips" which will put everything in perspective for you!

As my DT readers know, I've got tons of stories about established Penn alumni musicians, filmmakers, actors, plus dozens more entertainment professions.
I've even begun covering stories about new young alumni trying to break into entertainment careers such as acting, more acting, and music.
What I haven't covered are undergrads getting summer internships who are trying to break into the business.
This summer, our "15 second clip" campus correspondent Kelly Diamond (C'13) is out in LA and has secured not one, but two GREAT entertainment internships in TV and film at a production company and a studio.
After the jump, get some quick dish from Kelly on:
- how she researched getting these internships

Back in August, we started a new exclusive DT monthly Vlog series documenting the life of 2 Penn graduates who are embarking on a music career, so that others can learn from their experiences.

Per Blake,
"For roughly the 8 weeks hiatus, things were looking bleak. Ben was running out of cash, my main source of income was leaving in months, still no new band members, and we were unsure what to do next. We were losing momentum, but we took some specific actions to help us get through which we'll share as part of our 6th lesson, and give some positive updates about what's been going on as of late!"Watch Episode 6: "Bad Times, Good Times"!
*On a related note, check out "One and the Sun", the song Blake and Ben created originally for the first episode of their Vlog series here on DT. Since their first episode, they have turned it into more of an actual piece and it's available for purchase here.

Just a few months in LA, Alex is definitely being very proactive with his career. Last month he got his new headshots and this month he signed with a print agency and got his new comp cards (see image to right). Plus he won an athletic contest to meet a Hollywood casting director.
Per Alex, this month,
"After finishing the play and coming back from the holidays, I'm looking to pursue as many opportunities as I can in pilot season. Always trying to gain exposure and fortunate to have been selected from a casting call to work with a production company that combines sports in films (see pic below). Also enrolling at additional acting studios to receive different techniques and training."Listen to more of what he has to say in his vlog above!

Back in August, we started a new exclusive DT monthly Vlog series documenting the life of 2 Penn graduates who are embarking on a music career, so that others can learn from their experiences.
This month, in their 5th episode, Ben Naecker (C'09, Water Polo) and Blake West (W'09, Jazz Combos) talk about what happens when you find out your main source of income is leaving. As well as the trade-offs between doing music full-time, and having a "day job" so that you can focus on YOUR original music. They also do personal and band updates. Lastly... it looks like Ben might become a traitor to the anti-real job crusade!!!

One month in and he's already playing around with changing his name.
In his first vlog he talked about how acting classes and networking are key to pursuing an acting career in LA.
This month, he talks about:
- what new medium he's acting in now
- his ongoing classes
- what he's doing for money
- new workshops he's taking
- his decision to get new headshots and why he's changing his name (not a strange thing...afterall, she changed her last name from "Mitchell" because of THIS actress)
- which LA networks are important to be a part of
Alex/Bryant's addendum to this vlog HERE +/-
Which casting director workshops/classes have you been attending?
A casting director by the name of Jeffery Passero is the director of my play and it has been beneficial building a relationship with him. He has cast for several films, and plans to continue in the future. Sports Studios is a production company geared at athletics in films. Being an actor and former Division 1 athlete, this type of production is a great fit for me. I have been consistently in an on-camera class geared towards audition technique. It has been invaluable in terms of learning appropriate strategy to succeed on auditions.
Why did you get new headshots?
Having new headshots done was necessary due to the caliber of the competition's. It was originally suggested by an agent as well as my acting teacher. I agreed in that I wanted a photo that more accurately represented what I look like in person. (his old headshot HERE)
Why did you change your name?
The name change is a work in progress. It will either be Alex Bryant Weber or Bryant Weber. The motivation stems from the fact that most young actors tend to have unique names.

While I'm not a huge sports fan, as a Penn alum I can't help but get excited for the Phillies being in the World Series (and winning last night).
So on that note, in this whole Phillies frenzy, check out the video above of Penn's Glee Club singing a revised version of Bruce Montgomery's "Ain't-Cha Never Heard Of?" (originally released in 1989). The lyrics have been adapted to highlight the Phillies' coaching staff, top executives and names the complete roster from the 2009 National League Championship Series.
Recently, Mike Missanelli of ESPN Radio (950 AM / 97.5 FM) played the song and gave a big on-air plug to the Glee Club. Let's all rally together to get more airtime by sending an email to "MikeMiss@950ESPN.com" or call the "Air Studio" (if you want to wait and try to get on the air on Mike's show) at 610-632-0950 -- or both!
And watch out for the audio track to go on sale on the Penn Glee Club's website soon!
This isn't the first time the Glee Club got involved with Philadelphia's sports teams...

Speaking of the World Series, check out DJ Gregory's (W'03, Off the Beat) vlog below as he analyzes "starting pitching, offense, the bullpens and the managers to find that the difference maker may be the experience factor."
