Penn alum's promo with Ben Stiller, Mark Sanchez and LaDainian Tomlinson

Ben Stiller and Mark Sanchez and LaDainian Tomlinson and New York Jets

I cover lots of traditional entertainment career pursuits from alumni on DT like acting, filmmaking, and writing, but equally creative can be that of Marketing.

After the jump, check out a promo spot for ESPN that Universal Media Promotions and Marketing manager Melisa Kirkup (C'01) worked on for the new movie Tower Heist (in theaters Nov. 4th) featuring Ben Stiller as well as Mark Sanchez and LaDainian Tomlinson of the New York Jets. Plus check out Melisa's advice to re: job searching.

Tuesday Tips: Advice for an Undergrad Looking for a Job in Entertainment Marketing (Los Angeles)

(l to r:) Melisa Kirkup (C'01) & Ashley Berger (C'06)

The other day I got an email from undergrad senior Ryan Townsend (C'08) who was interested in moving out to Los Angeles to pursue a career in Entertainment Marketing and/or Publicity.

Penn alumni Melisa Kirkup (C'01, Universal Marketing) and Ashley Berger (C'06, Warner Brothers Marketing) chimed in with some good tips regarding job searching and answering the #1 question most LA bound undergrads have: "Can I secure a job in Los Angeles before moving out there?"

Click here to read their helpful advice to Ryan! (and/or submit your own!)

Love Week: He's Got Her Number (Exclusive!)

To start "Love Week" off on DuelingTampons.com, this morning we covered a Penn related story on TV.

Now I've got some more Penn "love" related news coming to theaters this Thursday ...plus an exclusive film clip thanks to another one of our Penn alumni!

Don't have plans for Valentine's Day yet?

Why not catch Elizabeth Banks' (C'96) new romantic comedy Definitely, Maybe? The film comes out on Valentine's Day and looks to be a winner.

This momma drama-dy has Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) trying to figure out who her mother is from the three women her father (Ryan Reynolds) once dated. Liz Banks plays one of the three girlfriends.

Check out this exclusive scene starring Ryan Reynolds and Liz Banks!
(A special thanks for the clip to Melisa Kirkup (C'01, Pennfest Music Chair), manager of Media Promotions at Universal)

It enabled me to learn about Penn alums in the entertainment industry and conduct necessary preliminary research. From there I was able to reach out to our incredible alumni network, schedule introductory meetings and phone calls, eventually land an interview, and finally secure an internship at a top Hollywood studio."
