Elizabeth Banks and The Tonight Show and Jay Leno and The Hunger Games and People Like Us

Last night, Elizabeth Banks (C'96) stopped by The Tonight Show to promote her new People Like Us film. The conversation shifted from her sexy MTV movie award acceptance to her chatting about the time a policeman stripper was invited to the Tri-Delt house while she was at Penn.

Check out her appearance at minute 4:00 after the jump!

Jay Leno and Ethan Fixell and UPenn

I've covered comedian Penn alum Ethan Fixell (C'04, Off the Beat) before as he and his friend Dave doubledated through North America.

Now Ethan just got added to the list of Penn alumni who have appeared on the Jay Leno show.

After the jump, watch Jay Leno's "favorite new comedy duo" perform a very funny musical number singing about people's facebook comments (minute 1:30) on the Jay Leno Show from this past Thursday.

Last week, David Loewy (Eng '10, Mask and Wig) was featured on "The Tonight Show" alongside Ian Stringham (C'10, Mask and Wig) on a "Meal or No Meal" segment.

Jay Leno and David Loewy and UPennIn the segment (minute 15:27-18:10 above) David shows Jay and a panel of judges his unique skill for balancing all sorts of things on different parts of his body.

You may recall DT did a story on David a couple years ago when he submitted THIS video for an MTV show.  And it was this video that actually got David on Leno!

Find out how after the jump!

(l ot r): Max Handelman and Todd Lieberman

While producers Todd Lieberman (C'95, Mask and Wig, AEPi) and Max Handelman (C'95, AEPi) were at Penn this weekend talking about producing, Max's wife Elizabeth Banks (C'96) was also talking films, but with Jay Leno...

From newly announced films, to her appearances on "Scrubs" this past season, I've got the latest Liz Banks (C'96) updates below

  • She appeared on Leno (see video above) recently and talked bats with Russell Brand
  • A stunning Liz walks down the red carpet in Cannes last week (see pic on right)
  • Liz will be starring with James McAvoy, and Laura Linney in “The Details”.  Per Variety, the story is about "a couple (McAvoy and Banks) who discover an infestation of raccoons in their back yard. Disagreements over how to deal with the animals lead to an escalating series of events."  Shooting for the film began last week in Seattle.
  • Liz will star in and produce the workplace comedy "Forever 21." (source)
  • The Uninvited came out on DVD.  Liz basically plays a wicked stepmother in this film.
  • She will star in What Was I Thinking?, with actresses Leslie Mann.  Per Reuters the film will explore the comic side of bad relationships. The film is based on the nonfiction book What Was I Thinking?: 58 Bad Boyfriend Stories and centers "around a woman who gets dumped during her engagement party. Her friends spring into action and whisk her away on a ski trip for healing and hedonism. Threading through their adventures on the trip are four flashbacks dealing in "worst ex-boyfriend" tales. Mann (who happens to be married to Apatow) would play a woman who dates a lot but never seems to have serious relationships, while Banks is a woman on the rebound."
