UPenn and David Chalfin and Funny or Die

Over the past few years on DT, David Chalfin (C'96) has produced some great DT videos including THIS and THESE.  Also, if you recall he also contributed THIS touching story to "Chicken Soup for the Soul".

Now, after the jump watch the latest very funny video he produced on the front page of funnyordie today ....all about a "revolutionary nightgown that lets your man know when tonight is just NOT right."

UPenn and Chicken Soup for the SoulOver the past few years on DT, many of the great edited videos (including THIS and THESE) were thanks to my good editor friend from high school and Penn, David Chalfin (C'96).

Recently, Dave's touching story about the strength and resiliency his mother showed in the wake of his father's death when he was 16 appears in the Chicken Soup for the Soul: Grieving and Recovery.

I've read it and it is really written beautifully.

After the jump, check out an excerpt from his story.

(l to r): Lew Schneider (C'83), event producer Reg Tigerman (C'07), Zach Lutsky (C'97),
Sherri Cooper Landsman (C'94) and Jason Resnick (C'92)

Back in February, I posted a whole bunch of videos from our LA Penn in Pictures 2008 panel including Jason Resnick (C'92) (Universal acquisitions), Sherri Cooper Landsman (C'94) (Brothers and Sisters Writer), Zach Lutsky (C'97) (ER Medical Consultant) and moderator Lew Schneider (C'83)(Everybody Loves Raymond, New Adventures of Old Christine).

In that series, I posted about 4 videos from the Q&A session with the audience and the panel.

...However, I never got around to posting the remaining 21 videos from that QA that I'm sure you're all find very interesting.

Continue reading to (finally) watch the remaining videos and a quick guide to all the videos in the series...

The remaining Q&A videos:

UPenn
(l to r): Lew Schneider (C'83), event producer Reg Tigerman (C'07), Zach Lutsky (C'97),
Sherri Cooper Landsman (C'94) and Jason Resnick (C'92)

"How do I break into the entertainment business?" is the number one question Penn alumni and undergrads always ask of me.

In late October, the Penn Club of Los Angeles hosted its annual Penn in Pictures event at ICM and those who attended got some answers from some of our successful alumni panelists.

These paneslists included Jason Resnick (C'92) (Universal acquisitions), Sherri Cooper Landsman (C'95) (Brothers and Sisters Writer), Zach Lutsky (C'97) (ER Medical Consultant) and moderator Lew Schneider (C'83)(Everybody Loves Raymond, New Adventures of Old Christine)

If you missed the event, not to worry!  For the first time, we have recorded the event and starting tomorrow (for the next 2 weeks), I will be sharing with you the videos from all of our panelists and more importantly, the 20+ questions that our alumni asked of our panelists including the ever popular question on "how do I get into the business"!

Check back here on DT, you'll definitely want to know what our panelists said!  (sign up for the free newsletter below to get the updates delivered to your email!)

A special thanks to editor David Chalfin (C'96), a fantastic editor living in Los Angeles who recorded and edited all the Penn in Pictures videos. Check out his reel here!

Tuesday, April 8, 2008

UPennBack in February I posted a Tuesday Tip article with "Advice for the actor who wants to move out to LA".

As a follow-up to that article, one important marketing tip that an actor should consider these days is to create a reel of his/her work. That reel should be posted on your facebook account as well as for other Penn alumni to see!

On this note, talented video editor David Chalfin (C'96) is offering up his editing services (at a good rate!) to Penn undergrads and alumni looking to create their demo reel.

Click here to check out his work and get more information!
