While Loren Mendell (C’95, Class President, Friars) has worked with fellow classmate and Penn alum Rob Pearlstein (C’95) on the Hollywood shorts Matumbo Goldberg and the Oscar nominated Our Time is Up, he’s no stranger to Documentary filmmaking.
In fact, he's quite prolific.
In his latest documentary, Mexico: The Business of Saving Trees, Loren travels with BBC-World reporter Jason Margolis to a remote Mexican forest for the Frontline/World Social Entrepreneurs Series. There they show how a protected reserve can thrive with the dedication of a single schoolteacher who hopes to raise money on the carbon market.
Loren has produced several documentaries, including another environmentally-focused piece on an oil spill in the Philippines, also for PBS Frontline/World.
