This weekend Vanessa Bayer (C'04, Bloomers) reprised her role on SNL as Courtney Kardashian and everytime I see this "Christmas Message from the Kardashians", it "letterally" cracks me up.

If you missed this weekend's Scarlett Johansson hosted SNL, you would have missed a sketch that appeared later in the show starring Vanessa Bayer (C'04, Bloomers) as a "child star of tomorrow".

If you know child actors who deliver all lines in that "sing-songy" manner, you'll LOVE this sketch!

If you missed SNL on Saturday night you missed seeing Penn alum Vanessa Bayer's (C'04, Bloomers) enthusiastic energy and smile planted in a good number of sketches. In fact, her face was the first to open the show in a sketch where she played a secretary announcing Christine O'Donnell's arrival at the Republican National Committee Headquarters.

Having been a fan of SNL now for almost 25 years, it is clear to me that Vanessa's got "it".  As I watched her through the show, it became clear to me that she reminded me of a young Cheri Oteri.... super committed to her characters with that great smile!  ...I realized this during the sketch when she played a woman lunching commenting on how fantastic her friend's "tiny hat" was.

It has just been announced that Penn Alum Vanessa Bayer (C'04, Bloomers) is one of three new cast members of the upcoming 36th season of Saturday Night Live! (source)

Like many SNL castmates, Vanessa comes from doing Chicago's Second City.  Per her bio on the Second City website,

"The Cleveland native was director of Bloomers sketch group at the University of Pennsylvania and has interned at Late Night With Conan O'Brien and Sesame Street. Vanessa now performs in Chicago with iO Theater's Revolver, the puppet show FELT, Annoyance's Splatter Theater and Lil Talent Show and does stand-up at Zanies. Many thanks to her sassy family and friends for teaching her that laughter truly is the best medicine."

By the looks of her Blue Shield of California parody commercial above, Vanessa will have no problem fitting into SNL and giving Kristin Wiig a run for her money! Good luck Vanessa! (thanks to Abby Barba (C'03) for the tip!)
