Bono, Julie Taymor, Glen Berger and The Edge.
Who knew that years after appearing as the lead role of Sir Rupert in Mask and Wig 's 100th production of "Lurline, Again!" Glen Berger (C'89) would go on to write the book for the hottest new show slinging onto Broadway on November 14...

More after the jump!

Glen co-wrote the book to "Spiderman, Turn off the Dark", with Tony Award-winner Julie Taymor (The Tempest, Across the Universe, The Lion King) ...with music and lyrics by Bono and the Edge!

You all know the story line.. geeky boy gets bitten by spider... with great power comes great responsiblity...

But what you don't know (nor do I exactly) is that we should "forget everything you think you know about Broadway; SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark will hurtle the audience through a thrilling experience in ways never-before-dreamed-possible in live theater."

Hmm.. I'm excited to see what they do with it.

What was Glen's path to getting to this point?  It seems like Glen has been involved in Broadway for quite some time:
"Glen Berger's plays include Underneath the Lintel (over 450 performances Off-Broadway, 150 productions worldwide); O Lovely Glowworm (Portland "Drammy" Best Script Award) and Great Men of Science, Nos. 21 & 22 (L.A. Weekly Best Play Award).  Glen has alos collaborated with Frank London (o the Klezmatics) on two new musicals; On Words and Onwards, and Loewe-Award winner A Night In The Old Marketplace.  In television, Glen has won two Emmys (twelve nominations), and has written over 200 episodes for children's televon series including "Arthur," Curious George, and "Fetch w/Ruff Ruffman."  He is a New Dramatists alumnus." Below, check out star Reeve Carney and his band CARNEY performing the World Broadcast Premiere of a song from the show, "Boy Falls From The Sky," with music and lyrics by Bono and The Edge, on ABC's "Good Morning America."

Like with many alumni in the creative arts, passion seems to stem from Penn undergraduate days performing on campus in all sorts of shows...

And on a related "spiderman/superhero" note, we also know how undergrads love:
