Aw... Penn admissions removes "Page 217" essay from application

Penn has ended a long standing (application) tradition.

After several decades, Penn has now eliminated its unique admissions essay question from its application: “write page 217 of your 300 page autobiography”.

Say it ain't so!

...Good thing President Amy Gutmann was still able to submit page 217 of her own 300 page autobiography to the Wall Street Journal last year!

What a former UPenn campus tour guide alum thinks you don't know (VIDEO)

upenn and the covenant and philadelphia and university of pennsylvania
At last night's open house party celebrating the new location of the Penn LA office, I got the chance to meet Michael Lovitz (C'86, Penn Singers, Glee Club), a great enthusiastic former Penn campus tour guide.

As if he took a page right out of the "Penn tour guide book", in the video above, listen to Michael as he explains the deeper meaning behind the "Covenant" (aka our "Dueling Tampons").

Did you know this?

This Penn Alum's TV Show Debuts Tonight! (and it stars another notable Penn alum!)

UPenn and Todd Lieberman and Detroit 187
Back in May I posted about how a bunch of Hollywood alumni have TV network shows coming out this year.

Well this week fall TV season starts and Executive Producer Todd Lieberman's (C'95, Mask and Wig, AEPi, Penn in Pictures panelist) "Detroit 1-8-7" debuts tonight on ABC, 10/9c to lots of great reviews.

After the jump, find out:
  • about another Penn alum who stars in "Detroit 1-8-7" who was on another notable TV series you probably didn't know was a Penn alum
  • and read what Todd has to say about this show and how producing TV is different than producing film.

Who Knew?: Penn Alum Featured in Popular MTV Music Video

This summer you've heard Ke$ha's "Your Love Is My Drug" just as many times as you've heard Katy Perry's "California Gurls". And while they both annoy the crap out of me (yet I will find myself listening to these songs regardless), there is one difference.

One of these song's music videos features a Penn alum.

Find out which one and who the Penn alum is after the jump!
