These Penn robots remind me of the "Predator" movies

UPenn and robots

As we've seen in the past, Penn can create some pretty cool technology....

Recently, Penn architects and engineers have come together to create some robots that I feel you'd see at a cool tech/design store like Sharper Image.

After the jump, check out some of these creations including a robot hat, a robot inspired by a jellyfish and a lamp that corresponds to your heart rate!

Get an early glimpse of Penn's new expansion (video!)

UPenn and University of Pennsylvania and Penn Park

Over the years, we all know there always is lots of construction on Penn's campus. (they were working on College Hall for all 4 of my undergrad years!)

In 2008, DT started to cover the beginning of Penn's eastern campus expansion here.

After the jump, watch the new video Penn just released covering the progress they've made thus far with Penn Park.

This is going to be huge!

Penn alum Whitney Cummings gets BOTH of her TV pilots picked up (watch preview!)

Back in February, a bunch of Penn alumni got their TV pilots ordered up by several TV networks.

After the jump find about BOTH shows from Whitney Cummings (C'03) that got the green light ...and watch a preview!

Denzel Washington hangs out on College Green

UPenn and Denzel Washington and Amy Gutmann

Yesterday I posted some videos of the Hollywood-filled commencement speeches from President Amy Gutmann and Denzel Washington.

After the jump, check out a new video which includes the pre-graduation procession down Locust Walk, lots of bagpipes, flags, gowns and as always, some uniquely decorated graduation caps.

Denzel Washington to Penn grads: "Fall Forward"

UPenn and Denzel Washington

Earlier today, I posted Dr. Gutmann's Hollywood-movie themed 2011 commencement speech and mentioned that every year, I make it a point of listening to Penn's commencement speech as a good dose of inspiration.

After the jump, now listen to 2011 commencement speaker (and Penn parent) Denzel Washington talk about his career, tell us all what he's terrified of, and how all of us "will suck at something" and what we need to do about it.

Again, I encourage all of you to watch this speech and then continue pursuing your dreams!

Every year, I make it a point of listening to Penn's commencement speech as a good dose of inspiration.

After the jump, listen to Dr. Gutmann's very creative, Hollywood movie-themed commencement speech she gave at the 2011 ceremonies yesterday ...and be sure to listen for some very special sound effects added at key moments during her speech!

I encourage all of you to watch this speech and then continue pursuing your dreams.

No President Trump afterall

UPenn and Donald Trump and The Apprentice
While we watched him hint at running for President, this morning, the Donald (W'68) announced that he won't be running for President afterall (source).

Instead he will be returning to his popular "Apprentice" franchise next season.

Was this all one big publicity stunt? What do you think? Comment below!

From the land of Oscars to the land of orphans

UPenn and Norman Golightly

If you recall, last year I wrote a post about how Hollywood exec Norman Golightly (C'94, Mask and Wig) refocused his producing talents in the direction of an African orphanage.

Norman lived at the rural Kenyan orphanage for a month last year, helping to raise funds for the development of the home which houses 50 kids who lost their parents to HIV/AIDS.  As an amateur photographer he wanted to share his hobby with the kids and brought over donated cameras from the US and taught them the basics.

After the jump learn about Norman's return to Kenya this month, watch a very moving video as the children warmly welcome his return and see the moving letter he received from one of the children!
