Penn undergrads getting pissy...

UPennIt was that title or "People getting pissed off, Ben getting pissed on"

Anyway, from an article in last week's DP entitled "Red, Blue and Yellow", it was revealed that people are getting pissy when it comes to well, relieving themselves on the Ben on the Bench statue. I know.. this is pretty gross. I'm hoping this wasn't done in my day.

What do people have to say about this? You're about to find out...

Nathaniel Smith (Ph.D., Penn's Grad School of Education '00 / House Dean of Ware College House and Lecturer for the Graduate School of Education and the Critical Writing Program) has started a new web video series called "Question of the Week". This week Nathaniel has taken to Locust Walk and posed this issue to Penn students and other Philadelphians.

Click here for the video (Question of the Week: Episode 2)

FYI, back in my day in the mid-90s this sort of thing happened with undergrads publically relieving themselves while they walked back to campus from Murphs on 44th and Spruce.

Michael Highland (SEAS'07) wants to show you his reprogrammed brain

Michael Highland (SEAS'07) wants to show you how videogames have reprogrammed his brain.

Michael's film, As Real as Your Life is a 22 minute film chronicling Michael's own addiction to video games and the effect they have had on his life so far.

This is pretty cool in a Clockwork Orangey kind of way.

From Michael's facebook "screening event" for this film:
"This film half documentary and half narrative, integrates Highland's ability to produce original, artistic, and tasteful film with his perception of how video games have potentially molded and morphed our society. Beyond his sociological assertions, Mr. Highland has successfully captured the essence of the modern video game addict in film, and has received wide acclaim at TED2006, the Game Developers Conference, America's Video Game Expo, and the Cannes Film Festival. "

Aint Easy Being Green for Stephen Morse (C'07)

Can a non-Whartonite undergrad get funding from Wharton to create a documentary?

Sure can.

Ask Stephen Morse (C'07, Daily Pennsylvanian). Through the Wharton Venture Initiation Program, recent grad (and Pennfest 2007 selectee), Stephen Morse (C'07, Daily Pennsylvanian) was able to start Morse-Levin Productions and create Ain't Easy Being Green, his documentary about the controversial 2006 Pennsylvania Senate race.

(...Another Penn connection here. Before forming MLP, Stephen worked at Ben Katz Productions as the senior post-production assistant for the films Johnny Was and Nailed.)

Stephen is currently looking for a distributor for his 82 minute senior thesis documentary. Alumni out there.. .got any leads for him?
