Penn Nostalgia

A photo I found on flickr of the buses lined up for the Penn Relays.

...Always brings back that nostalgic feeling when I see that blue bridge (?) with the crest and "University of Pennsylvania". That was the first thing I remember seeing when my parents first took me to Penn that fall day in September 1992.

Oy, 1992.

Penn's Field Center Hosts Documentary Film Festival

The winners have been announced in the University of Pennsylvania's Field Center for Children's Policy, Practice & Research's documentary film contest, a part of National Child Abuse Prevention month.

Click here to watch a trailer to the very disturbing documentary, "Best Documentary--College category", Crystal Clear: Breaking the Cycle of Incest (a film submitted by Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa.)


A panel of expert judges, including producers from CNN, the Greater Philadelphia Film Office and award-winning documentary filmmakers, judged the high school and college submissions. As part of the Field Center's national conference, "One Child, Many Hands: A Multi-Disciplinary Conference on Child Welfare," the winners will have special screenings of their films at an award ceremony to be held in the Zellerbach Theater at Penn's Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on May 30 at 7 p.m.

Adam Matta (C'96, Mask and Wig) screams for Ice Cream

Adam Matta (C'96, Mask and Wig) was on NPR's All Things Considered today, speaking about his entry in this cool competition called Ice Cream Headache.

Per Adam, "These two artists from Brooklyn came up with an idea to call for remixes and reinterpretations of the Mr. Softee jingle, and the winning results will be broadcast from an ice cream truck driven around New York Memorial Day weekend."

Todd Lieberman (C'95, AEPi, Mask & Wig) produces film with Penn alum/writer, Stu Gibbs (C '91)

Todd Lieberman (C'95, AEPi, Mask & Wig) will be producing the film Parental Guidance with another Penn alum/writer, Stu Gibbs (C'91).

According to Variety, the film is a "romantic comedy which revolves around parents who try and get their son back together with his old girlfriend after he brings home the fiancee from hell."

Stu most recently sold the pilot "Shooting Blanks" to ABC and Touchstone. He also wrote the films "Repli-Kate" and "See Spot Run".

Steve Stecklow (C'76) wins Pulitzer Prize in Journalism!

Steve Stecklow (C’76) is part of a four-person team that recently received the Pulitzer Prize in Journalism. Stecklow and his team-mates, all reporters for the Wall Street Journal, were awarded the Pulitzer Prize for its “creative and comprehensive probe into backdated stock options for business executives,” which led to a number of top executives losing their jobs.
